Walking in the front door, I followed my nose, the delicious aroma of grilled food both enticed me, and increased my level of hunger. Decor is common to pubs. Green painted walls with white trim, appropriate pictures and likenesses of a "black dog" throughout the bar, and what I found to be nifty; (and scarce) purse hangers at the bar. Cleanliness was above average, and being the child of a germaphobe, I know what I'm looking for. Patrons were a glorious example of Americana, from "urban" to "country" and everyone in between, both young and old. There is a jukebox, but never fear, no TouchTone here. (Very large selection of music, reflecting fellow guests quite well.) Service was great. My fiancé and I took a booth at the front with a great view of the place, and within a few minutes we were greeted with a smile by our server. Beer selection was better than 80% of establishments. The correct "domestics" and imports as well as a pleasant craft presence on the menu as well. (Also, on a side note; my fiancé's Washington Apple was SUPERBLY mixed. A simple drink, that somehow gets ruined everywhere we go in Ohio.) Food arrived prompt, and HOT! No simmering under the heat lamps here. The onion rings I ordered with my burger were ENORMOUS, and perfectly battered and golden brown. Best I've ever had. If my onion rings were ENORMOUS, then my burger was MONSTROUS!!! The 1/2lb. Black Dog Burger was menacing to say the least. Beef smothered in onions and mushrooms topped with a slice of Swiss and American cheeses, and flavor for days!!! I ordered my patty medium-rare (always order a step down from how you like it, as beef cooks all the way to the table.) and I received it medium, which is exactly what I wanted. The burger was juicy, and lightly charred, ab-so-lute perfection! And if my onion rings were the best I ever had, then I predict this burger will be the greatest I ever encounter. A truly formidable foe. The fiancée ordered a Sweet Chili Chicken wrap. It arrived at the table sporting s green tortilla, and a side of home-made potato chips. (Crisps.) which were totally awesome, but a bit overdone, but nevertheless, tasty. Her chicken wrap was delectable. Sweet, with a touch of everlasting heat, that was easily removed with a sip of our beverages. The chicken was cooked well, and the peppers and sauce accompanying the chicken were out of this world delicious. I guarantee you've never tasted anything this unique before! Now, price; what some of you are waiting hear about... Of all the places I've been: chain, private, trendy, and old, Black Dog Pub is priced perfectly. From the price of my awesome Busted Knuckle pint, to my delicious burger, all fair. The only thing on the menu I felt was priced a little high was the appetizers. But let's face it, this is a pub, and people out for a few drinks may not want a whole meal. High priced appetizers are common everywhere, because it's an easy couple of bucks for any place to make, although I don't agree with it, I don't see it as a negative mark either. When all is said and done, Black Dog Pub is off the charts!!! Great food, great atmosphere, great service. This was my first time, but it won't be my last. Don't settle for less, get out of the same old routine you're in, and go to Black Dog Pub!!! Black Dog Pub, go for the atmosphere and people, stay for the grub!!!

GREAT PLACE. GREAT SERVICE. GREAT SURROUNDINGS. Black Dog Pub is a nice change to the many, many chains that pepper most larger cities like Fort Wayne. The food was good, the service was friendly and the decor was cool. Check 'em out! Local businesses benefit the local economy.

We went to the Black Dog pug last night for the second time ever. This time we had the pizza, which was fantastic. I'd rate it up there with several others of my favorites. Not the best ever, but definitely unique and good. Drawbacks to the Black dog pub include no where to stand while you are waiting for a table and space. It is a crowded little pub. I love that it is nonsmoking!

I'm a big fan of this place. They have a good beer selection. The atmosphere is nice, even when its noisy it's never overwhelming, and I like that they have an outdoor seating area. The pizza (sans cheese) is good. Last time I went I had some veggie wrap thing, and it was the bees knees.

The service was great. Had wings, then had terrible heartburn which was my fault. But the diarrhea however, was their fault. Would recommend to anyone who loves a good racist joke or two, heard plenty of those. All in all good spot.

It's a bit of a wait...but totally worth it! The pizza has the best crust I've ever had. Barbecue chicken? Spicy...yet amazing. Big dog? So good. Service? Outstanding. Worth the visit!

Come on a Monday for 1/2 off pizza and $2.00 pints! Feed your face and get your drank on while keeping your wallet happy.

It's a bar. Loud, busy on a Friday, standing room only. Nice tv in the "family room," but not a big room so it gets crowded very quick. Pizza looked great, but didn't eat this time. Drinks were ok, but the long island wasn't as strong as I am used to.

Gave this place another shot. Disappointed again. Evidently their idea of BBQ chicken is plain grilled chicken and a bottle of BBQ sauce But the real joke here is their beer menu. They seem to be proud of all the beer they have on tap. And to be fair, it is a good selection. But the physical menu itself (meaning the piece of paper that lists their beers that's covered with old food and scribbles and notes about what they don't have anymore and hasn't been replaced since they put their new tap system in) is disgusting. Really guys? I grabbed one from the next table and it's in the same condition. They could have something good there, but the lack of attention to details tells me that they never will.

The burgers had no taste. The burgers at Burger King are better. The service was very very slow. It's not worth going there with your kids. The atmosphere is crappy and not clean. The beer was ok, the hard cider was crappy. For the price of the food the food was not good. The service was terrible.

BIG was EVERYTHING!! I've had all 3 of the "big ass" menu items: tenderloin, fish & burger. You could easily split these "big ass" sandwiches among 4 people! We usually get carry out at lunch time and the bartender/servers are always really friendly. I've yet to be disappointed with this pub food.

Black Dog Pub was highly recommended to us by a friend who insisted we meet there for dinner and drinks. The SHROOMS appetizer was like OMG amazing. Really. Pizza were great too, the small size pizza is perfect for one, so everyone got their own. Nice and chill atmosphere! Great Service! Jill was super friendly and totally took care of us, and really reasonably priced! I visit Fort Wayne for business regularly, and we'll definitely be back next trip! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

Like everyone has said, the food IS great! Esp the pizza! Good job. But the servers, wow. If John Taffer was there, it would be a new staff. Not personable, and be prepared to wait. Unfortunately you are on THEIR time, so you just have to deal with it.

My parents took me to the Black Dog Pub to begin our night of carousing. They love this place, and I wanted to love it too. They bragged that they had never had anything at the Black Dog that hadn't been great, so I felt confident that I would be getting a good meal. Sadly, I think my choice of meal didn't play to their strong suit. Everybody in our group ordered good ol' bar food: pizza and wings and the like. They all said it was great. Meanwhile, after several days of holiday overeating, I was trying to get back to my usual healthy diet - I had a salad. I was proud of myself: a salad when pizza was right in front of me. The mixed greens salad included chicken, so I thought I would be satisfied and ready to start a night of drinking. But the salad was all iceberg lettuce, the serving of chicken was skimpy, and the dressing - raspberry vinaigrette - was unimpressive. In the end I should have known better. This was a bar with a restaurant section, not the other way around. The service was alright. It was busy but not packed, and our server didn't seem too interested in being pleasant. She served us our orders and kept our drinks full, but she didn't seem too thrilled about doing it. Again, maybe I expected too much. Bottom line: it's a bar. Get food here that you expect at a bar. Your waitress will bring you your order, and you won't go wanting for anything but maybe some hospitality. People love this place, so it's got something good going on. Maybe next time I visit Ft. Wayne I'll get to see what it is.

They are great for bar food. I go there often when I am having a long night out with friends. If you have time to blow, you don't have to worry about their hit-and-miss service.

The Black Dog is a terrific neighborhood Pub. My husband and I love the Busted Knuckle beer and pizza. The Big Ass burgers and Chicken Wings keep our aways hungry, motor mouthed 16 year old son happy, full, and best of all, quiet!

Neighborhood bar with darn good pizza. Monday's they have half off pizza which is usually the only time I go, so haven't tried much from the menu but I do love the buffalo chicken pizza with ranch dipping sauce. I've heard the pork tenderloin is great and comes on a house made bun that actually fits the tenderloin. If I am remembering correctly, I have tried the chicken tenders and they were great too!

Friendly staff as well as great pizza and chicken if your hungry. If you are looking to meet down to earth people this is the best place on the southwest side of town.

Black Dog Pub has added quite a few new craft beer taps, a big plus in my book. Food is above average bar food that is priced reasonably. Service is usually decent. Worth a try for sure.

Black Dog Pub is one of the best bars in Fort Wayne. It has a family dining room too, which is nice for families, especially because the food here is ridiculously good. Their 1/2 price pizza on Monday can't be beat, either. Great drink specials, and one of the best (if not THE best) pizza rolls in the city. The servers and bar tenders are super friendly as well. This is the place my friends and I go prefer to go when we go out.
